Manure Storage Projects:

In Ontario when you apply for a building permit for a manure storage you are required to have a Nutrient Management Strategy completed and in place before your permit will be granted.

Factors to be considered in the Manure Storage Project

  1. Material to be stored - Solid or Liquid? Covered or Uncovered?
  2. Site Selection - Is the location practical for the farm?
  3. MDS calculations - Can the chosen location meet the required setbacks in the desired location?
  4. Local By-Law requirements - Is there a zoning issue or local lot line setback that may be in play?
  5. Conservation Control - Is the farm in a flood plain or under the regulation of the local conservation authority?
  6. Sizing - Does the size of the storage meet the needs of the farm and the minimum requirements of the Nutrient Management Act?

Involving us early in your project gives us the opportunity to assist you with these factors, we have the experience that will help you choose solutions that work and are practical.
